Re: Rule Bilge pump failure

We, as well, had a problem with our Rule pump a week after our survey. After fixing the toilet, I thought I would flush out the bilge with a hose. Ummm... 10 minutes later, no pumping, I checked on the pump & white smoke was pouring out! Did our surveyor really test it the week before? It's real...

Re: Reconfiguring engine compartment ventilation

James, The best solution might be to fabricate a dorade box in each engine compartment. "A dorade box (also called a dorade vent, collector box, Charlie Noble or simply a "ventilator") is a type of vent that permits the passage of air in and out of the cabin or engine room of a boat w...

Roger-

It's a Jabsco Solenoid Model #37038-1012 available from Defender, as well as many on-line sources.

Re: Transom Shower Trim

By the way, if you only need to replace the plastic covers, those are available separately as well: Part #10252 for about $10 each. Very easy to replace - just remove the top screw of the cup, pull out the plastic tab, put some sealant on the tab of the new cover, insert & replace the screw.

Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

ADDING A WATER TEMP GAUGE As a footnote, I had wanted to upgrade my Northern Lights control panel to their more "deluxe" one, which includes gauges as I liked the idea of having a water temp gauge. Unfortunately the panel is quite large & over $500! A tech at Northern Lights told me th...

Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

John,

Between the strainer & water pump. Less likely to jam or clog with grass, etc.

Re: Generator raw water pump losing its prime

I had this same issue with the genset strainer "back-siphoning" to the seacock after shut-down. You could see it happen & hear the gurgling. I tried tightening fittings, sealing the strainer cover & even used sealant on all of the hose fittings to no avail. I finally found a 2-part...

Re: Genset Exhaust Soot

Thanks all. I think I'll try John's idea of a short pipe or tube to keep most of it away from the hull.

Genset Exhaust Soot

How much soot is normal with the Northern Lights genset equipped with the Vetus water separator? Also, should some water be "spitting" out of the above-water discharge along with the exhaust gasses? I seem to recall when we bought our PDQ 6 months ago that there was often a little spray of...

Re: Prop Zincs make/model

I had better internet the following day & found extensive info on this forum from back in 2006-07. Sounds like several possible solutions when we haul next, but will try to get some shipped down to George Town as a temp fix. Thanks to all & maybe we'll cross paths when we're in the Abacos if...

Prop Zincs make/model

Just crossed to the Exumas & diving down found both prop nut zincs missing! One had just the bolt still in place, so they likely were eaten away while we were in a FL marina getting ready the previous month. I'm more familiar with sail drives, so this type of zinc is new to me. Looking on-line i...

Are all PDQ 34's painted, rather than gelcoated? The hull and topsides?

Purchasing a MV34 this fall

Just sold our sailing cat & looking to purchase a 2006-2007 MV34 this fall. Traveled to FL last winter looking at some Rhumbline had listed & will be heading back south in October. If anyone knows of any others coming on the market soon anywhere on the east coast (ME - FL), please let us kno...

Re: MV34 to look at in Southern FL?

Larry - Thanks for your offer, but we drove down to see Bill & Fran's recently (& liked it!), so tomorrow driving to Stuart to look at the 3 or 4 Rhumbline has there. Thanks again!
