Re: Ice Box Lid
Here's a little trick that has helped us over the years. We have zip lock bags filled loosely with shipping foam peanuts, and we fill-in empty areas inside the fridge as we use up food. Although a little inconvenient, keeping it full like this really helps in cutting down running time. Also' the add...

Re: ANCHOR KELLET
Thanks for the replies. I use about 40' of chain, and the rest is nylon. I've had quite a few instances in wind vs. current, where the boat did not swing to the wind, and the rode got caught on the keel. Most of the time I would get off OK, usually with considerable work. My last episode I wasn't so...

hmm, Thanks Ron. I might have one buried in my garage. I actually thought I would need something heavier.

Re: How to Disable Top Lock?
Hi, Do you have a pic of your seat belt hold-down? I use a 1" strap with a ratchet lock, but your idea sounds simpler.

Re: 44 mainsail drop
Something I just recently discovered, after 15 years. I have Harken battslides, and by accident, I found that they were upside down. I had the nut on the bottom of the car intead of the top. It does seem to make a slight difference. But the smaller dia. halyard, and a good occasional flushing of the...

Re: How to remove quad spin lock
You can get a replacement lever and install it, without removing the rest of the unit. Remove the thru bolt that holds all the levers, to remove the bad one. I can't remember exactly how to do it, but once you start I'm sure you'll figure it out. Just go slowly and try to keep all the levers lined u...

Re: 1993 PDQ36 "Here's To Life" is for sale
Hi, My boat was highly customized by the original owner. Much of the cabinetry in the stbd hull is different than other pdqs'. there are more cabinets, the chart table is very large and slides in when not in use. The electrical system was designed by an outside electrical firm. The battery bank cons...

Re: Best way to remove carb. on starboard engine
[quote="thinwater"]You can easily reach the rear flange nuts with a 1/4-inch ratchet with an extention; it's blind but easy. Nothing needs removed. However, hemostats are handy for getting the top nut off without dropping. quote] Getting the top nut back on is where I have a problem, hard ...

Re: Best way to remove carb. on starboard engine
A neat trick if you have the old style lockers with the high sides...cut a piece of large diameter PVC pipe to the length of the front edge, then cut a straight line along the length of the pipe allowing it to slip over the edge of the locker. Makes it much more comfortable to lean on with your che...
