Re: Transducer in head bilge
Hi George, I have installed a thru hull transducer below the head floor. Our boat is a 2005 model year and the bottom of the head bilge in in fact the bottom of the boat. We did drill a hole to install this thru hull transducer and it works very well to have a second depth finder. It's very informati...

Re: Hairline cracks on A/C strainers.
Thanks John, I have never placed clorine tablets or any other additive in the strainers. Someone told me once that they thought that the Non-Tox antifreeze we use to winterize may contribute to this issue but I cant' confirm why that would be. Guess I'll just located another strainer and see how lon...

Hairline cracks on A/C strainers.
I noticed on my aft A/C strainer that some crazing is occuring on the clear bowl :x . This has happened two years ago and I am wondering why this is occuring again. I am careful not to overtighten and I check it often. Has this happened to anyone here? Any idea what gives? I am going to replace the ...

Re: Plastic Strainer
Russ, I had one get loose once and when the boat was hauled, I cleaned up the area and applied rule 5200 or some similar product and it has been fine since. Never had any screws either but I prefere it that way. Sandy "MV Mishigas"

Re: Time for a new Anchor light bulb.
Thanks for the reply John, I'll be working on this this weekend. I think the factory installed a Aqua Signal 25 but I wont order any bulbs until I pull the old one out due to the possibility of the different styles of bulbs. The LED bulb would be nice as we anchor out often. Regards, Sandy K. MV MIS...

Time for a new Anchor light bulb.
I finally burned out my anchor light bulb after many years of service. I am interested in thoses LED style replacement bulbs that fit in place of the old style bulbs. Anyone here done this yet? Now getting to the anchor light should be interesting. Thanks, Sandy K "MV MISHIGAS"

Re: Traveling with firearms of any kind
BillP, yes Maryland has some unique gun laws and I sugest that you visit this site: http://www.mcsm.org/mdlaw.html or visit the NRA site for additinoal info. If you are looking to 'carry" a concealed gun on you (in port and off your boat) you would need to acquire a concealed carry gun permit. ...

Re: James Power work tour
I hope it's not the "last boat" on his tour as he usually moves north to the Chesapeake region to service a few more boats (mine included). i agree that James is a class act and very honest, fair and has unlimited knowledge with these vessels. I got on his list early in the year with a few...

Stanchion Damage to Liferail
Went down to the boat yesterday to check on things at the yard where the boat has been under shrinkwrap all winter and noticed the Portside main section of Liferail bent inward about 10" and kinked at the bases of the stanchions just above the three screw mounting plate and support rod. :? The ...

Re: Propane tanks
Hi Jimmy, if you do a search under "Propane Tank" or "Propane Cooktop" you will find several past posts that discussed the tanks and the solonoid valve that lives in the propane locker. Had to replace my valve last year due to a major sticking issue. Regards, Sandy K MV MISHIGAS ...

Re: New Jersey ICW
Hi BillP, congrats on your new 41. We have voyaged on the Jersey ICW from Atlantic City to Cape May several years ago and found alot of thin water...even on a 34. We were traveling south down the coast from NY when the weather got snotty so we decided to come inside at AC. Not shure about now, but e...

Re: Cutlass Bearing Replacement
Thanks for the reply John. Not sure how much play I have currently but I'll check it this spring. As far as high mileage I only have about 800 hours on my mains but like anything else, stuff just wears out. Anyway it shouldn't be a big job to replace with Shafts in place. Thanks again for the input ...

Cutlass Bearing Replacement
When having my 4 blade props installed last spring my mechanic mentioned that my cutlass bearings are wearing and may need replacement soon. :o Has anyone here had to replace their cutlass bearings in their PDQ's? How long should these bearings last? How do you know when to replace as the boat runs ...

Yet another MV 34 that would enjoy rubbing elbows with fellow PDQ'rs on the Bay. Still have a couple of open dates in August. Anchor, raft or marina is all good. Regards, Sandy K MV MISHIGAS
