Re: wiper arms?

Hi All, The sweep angle is 80 degrees and shaft length is 2.5 inches. On a side note the sweep angle can be adjusted to 50, 65, 80 and 110 degrees, and can be set to park to the left or right by changing the linkages inside the motor housing. My motor numbers on file are 71012 for a 110 sweep, and 7...

Re: If possible, would you buy a new PDQ 34 or 41?

There have been a few interested parties over the years inquiring about producing the PDQ power cats again. Unfortunately nothing has come to fruition. After touring the Miami boat show this year it is evident that there is a gap in the market as you mentioned. With 25 years of building, commissioni...

Re: Maitenance check?

Larry, The height above waterline routing of the hose feeding the shaft seals is not of much concern, as the other end of the hose should terminate at the vented loop which is well above water line. With this said, there are a few boats where the shaft seal is fed from the hose attached to the aft e...

Re: Maitenance check?

Screwing down the bilge pump bases is a super big no no. The hull at that point is only about 1/4" thick. I would advise checking for leaks, repair the holes with epoxy if all dry, and gluing the bases down. Reasons for it coming loose in the first place are usually not enough sealant applied a...

Re: Replaced the water heater

When swapping out water heaters we install a Starboard base for the heater to sit on. This will keep the unit from sitting in seawater from a leaky rudder seal. Good point about the plumbing fittings. The tube should push into the fitting about 1 1/8" to seat properly. A depth mark on the tube ...

Re: Berth Reading lights

The aft cabin reading light wiring should run just under the deck in the house battery compartment.

Re: Fuel Pick up tube problem

Still sounds like a fuel delivery issue. If the venting was and is clear, and the drag needle on the Racor gauges was good, it points to running out of fuel. What were the fuel tank gauges reading? Anyone else have any ideas?

Re: Fuel Pick up tube problem

A couple of thoughts; Were there any panel alarms going off when the engines shut down? Was the on engine Yanmar secondary fuel filter changed? What length are the new pick up tubes? Is it possible that they sucked air due to their length and vessel trim? No ropes caught in the props? James

Re: New owner in Jacksonville need help

I have been told the gravely flakes are aluminum oxide, produced in the tank from a chemical reaction between the aluminum tanks and chlorine / fluoride in the water. As far as the water pump not priming, make sure the plumbing fittings at the tank pick up are not leaking. Quick way to check is to b...

Re: Fuel Pick up tube problem

Interesting... Could be the loose pick up tube fit, but funny it affected both engines at relatively the same time. Is the tank vent line clear? Do you have vacuum gauges on the filters, and if so what were they showing?

Re: Fuel Pick up tube problem

Hi Kent, Check the pick up tubes and see if there is a screen at the bottom. At the factory the fuel tank manufacturer supplied pick up tubes with stainless steel screens at the bottom of the tubes. We found that during the flotillas the engines would die due to fuel starvation. After pulling the tu...

Re: Midship Cleat Line Chock

Hi Alan, Give Metaux Produit in Quebec Canada a call, 819-533-3222. They made the majority of the stainless deck hardware aboard PDQs and still have a lot of the original drawings. The second mid ship cleat is a handy upgrade. At the factory some boats received 2 mount mount pads for a second cleat ...
