Re: Salon Windows
I'd be interested to know how you handle the curvature when bedding the windows in. Is the curve gentle enough to massage them into place or is heat required?

Interior salon window trim
Well we tackled replacement of the trim around the salon windows last weekend and am pleased to report that it is easy. I purchased a sheet of Seaboard (20" x 96", $105) from Hamilton Marine and set up some jigs on the table saw to mill the shapes. The original face flange is 5/8" but...

Norfolk to Rockland trip
I moved Peace over the Memorial Day weekend back to home port. We went direct to Block Island from Atlantic Yacht Basin in Chesapeake, VA. We went offshore towards Block Island, through the Cape Cod Canal with an overnite stay at Provincetown. The trip took exactly 5 days to the hour. Just south of ...

Re: Anchoring/Mooring Bridal
I have 5/16HT chain and use a bridle consisting of 2- 7/16" 3-strand lines about 16' long. Had a few 30 kt nights and had no problems.

Re: electrolysis
Interesting....the first sign of problem was the stbd prop. I also have a Dynaplate fwd on that hull as well and the added through hull opposite the dynaplate. Bonnie and Roger on Kokomo have their SSB hooked to the Dynaplate but I don't recall if they are a LRC or not. I was going to do the same bu...

electrolysis
I recently had to replace both sets of blades on my folding props due to electrolysis. In fact I threw one blade and was fortunate that it did not come through the bottom of the boat. Has anyone else had this problem? The diver said the zincs were OK when he replaced the first set. The second diver ...

Norfolk to BlockIsland
I'm leaving Norfolk on 5/22 and anticipate going offshore to Block Island and wondered if anyone has done this trip this early. We have done a route 15-20 miles offshore through NYC and LI sound in the past (N on Memorial Day, S on Labor Day) but this year we just want to boogie. BTW there is one cr...

Re: Nova Kool Fridge - low voltage cut-out
I wonder if this is true for the compressor units with the black box and evaporator plate. I noticed a few days with no hard ice and then it started working again.

Re: Salon Windows
My windows have stainless finish washers with only a few plastic washers here and there. I've had to periodically tighten the screws as they loosened just enough for the window to begin leaking. As soon as I read your post the light went on. The stainless washers probably do not maintain tension on ...

Re: leaving the bahamas
You should be OK. The earlier boat had a traditional cap plate that slid over the baby stay chain plate and was secured by 2 screws. The newer design has a welded cap plate and 4 screws. I have not peeled back the interior but do check for any signs of moisture after every rain or when the boat has ...

Re: SD20 saildrive diaphragms replacement
My nstbd alarm came on recently. I had anengine vibration that came and went but eventually became pronounced. Before I found the real problem I ended up replacing fwd engine mounts. Turns out that the props had suffered electrolysis and the gears had deteriorated eventually I lost one blade. My ala...

Re: leaving the bahamas
I'm one of the two who lost a boat and I went right out and bought another one (36045). I have since made 2 trips, one north and one south from Norfolk to Maine. I leave the Chesapeake and go 15-20 miles offshore and head for NYC, through the LIS, CC Canal and then across the Gulf of Maine. I trust ...

We are going to try canvas work this summer. We bought an old Singer treadle that had been electrified. We have made salon window covers using Sunbrella window mesh. It sewed through the mesh, webbing and binder with no problem. My understanding is that a long stich length is all that is required. W...
