Re: MV 34 - 4 blade props

Hey Mark, Right on with the "dark side". Yep, add another zero to each prop cost now! Actually, we still have the sailboat so its starting to look like a marina in the back yard. Hoping to motor up your way this Summer in the powercat and on to Canada. Will you be around this Summer? Love ...

Re: MV 34 - 4 blade props

Update,

Props shipped UPS yesterday (Tu 5/4/11) from H&H. Source was Michigan Wheel. Further info when they arrive.

Re: MV 34 - 4 blade props

I have about "had it" with H&H Props and am considering canceling the order. I have been waiting since Feb 17 with unfulfilled promises. Does anyone have exact specs on the four blade props for the 100HP so I can order them from someone else? (perhaps Michigan Wheel) Thanks, Chet / All...

Re: Bilge Alarms & Pumps

Hey Ross & Wally, Thanks for the input. Ross, sounds like a good idea (sump pump). Whats the pump rate on those things? Wally, I like your idea using plastic pipe but it will be a challenge as the seacocks on this boat are upside down with hose coming out top and the handle facing the bottom of ...

Bilge Alarms & Pumps

Having recently acquired MV096, I am now addressing some of my fears & concerns regarding this boat. The installed bilge pumps seem grossly inadequate for other than minor leaks (rated 1100GPH at 13.6V and no head). Realistically with 12V and 4ft head that drops to about 500; and it is wired thr...

Re: MV 34 - 4 blade props

Still waiting for new props (100HP) ordered from H&H Feb 16. I called recently and they say they are "on the way". Must be on a slow boat from China!

Re: Rudders draging on hull

Al, The only thing I can think of would be a grounding with the rudders in a turn (to strbd). You might try disconnecting the tie bar (or cables) to the non-quadrant rudder and see which rudder is binding when turned. If you can loosen the clamps on the affected rudder, I would drop it an inch and r...

Racor Filters

Is it okay to replace the Racors with 2 micron rather than 10 micron filters? It would seem to make sense as I'm told the engine filters are 2 micron and they are more difficult and expensive to change.

Re: Haul out locations

Yes, Dropping the rudder a couple inches is a "tried & true" fix but not sure I would consider it a permanent fix. It leaves a gap between the rudder and the hull and the rudder is now more susceptible to grounding as its draft is greater by 2-3 inches. Be sure to attach a line to the ...

Re: Haul out locations

Tom, Sandy/James idea of using a come-along sounds like a great idea. I have straighted several rudders by removing them, clamping the blade against a block wall, placing an iron pipe over the shaft, and then using a hydraulic jack. I found that I had to go slightly beyond the desired position as th...

Hi Mark,

Do not have a final price. My wife ordered them as a birthday gift and sent a down payment. In the $800. range.

Re: Trying hard not to break our boat, but...

Hey Mike I have an older model 36 (1991) that had a support from the top of the table to the salon roof. I removed it years ago with no adverse effects. I believe it was there to support any heavy persons walking on the cabin roof. It sounds like the bridgedeck is flexing from the wave bashing forci...
