Re: Rudder packing

Hey Roger, Use a LARGE pair of channel locks, adjustable wrench, or pipe wrench and loosen off the lower locking nut a few turns. Then tighten down the large packing nut. The adjustment of the packing nut is a judgement call, depending on how bad the leak the condition of the packing , and how many ...

Re: Repainting

I would do a "gel repair" on the smooth areas and then roll the nonskid texture. This way everything remains gelcoat and you dont have to worry about the secondary bonding of paint, especially on the nonskid areas, since they would be hard to clean and prep properly. James

PDQ work tour 2010

Hello all. Once again Jackie and I are in the process of loading up the " PDQ R.V. 27 Passagemaker" and heading south, from January to March, for the annual PDQ work tour. For those of you who are new PDQ owners, allow me to introduce myself. I worked with PDQ for 16 years where I gained e...

Re: Repainting

Hey Amytom, one way to do the repair is to sand the entire nonskid section smooth, then re apply a coat of thickened gelcoat with a roller. This is how the original finish was achieved when the moulds were made. When finished there may be a slight diffrence in the texture compaired to the surroundin...

Re: Wolter Water Heater Vent Cap: for Force 10 Heater

Hey Mike, PDQ installed the wolter water heaters over a period of 4 to 5 years. I believe we stopped due to them being tempermental and the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Unfortunately I dont have a source for parts. Mariners Hardware sells a selection of mushroom vents. You might be able to loc...

Re: Anyone have icemaker on the flybridge?

Hey Ross, remove the 4 to 6 screws around the perimeter of the icemaker and it should slide right out. The screws may be hidden by plastic plugs. The supply line will be 1/2" blue "whale" tube with a reducer to fit the 1/8" icemaker line. I have my doubts that the icemaker is cau...

Re: Anyone have icemaker on the flybridge?

Hey Bill, glad to hear the ice maker idea worked out for you. Ross, it seems there has been something up with your fresh water system since day one. I would guess that a majority of the issues are related to the cardboard you found in the water tank. It might be an idea to have the whole system flus...

Re: Lynne Sheahan - PDQ Yachts

Hi Kay. After PDQ closed, a lot of people lost track of each other. Unfortunately I have not talked to Lynne since the PDQ days, but I'll ask around and see if I can get in touch with her. James

Re: Gas line pass-through from propane locker - fitting type?

Hey Thinwater, the fittings are called vapour tight fittings. You should be able to pick them up thru West Marine. They usually fit up to a 3/8" bulkhead. If its more try glueing it in with some 5200. This would be a good time to check that the locker drain is not plugged. James

Hey Gadzooks, good to hear from you. As discussed it is called Hypervent. The product is also used as a water bleeding membrane on house foundations. There might be a cheaper price to be had thru a building supply store. James
