New 9.9's

Just picked up a Yamaha catalogue at the Boston boat show. It's dated July 07 and says the 9.9 has been redesigned for compactness and indicates that power tilt is an option. Does anyone know if these would be a direct replacement for the older models?

transducer location

I had a fishfinder installed when I purchased my boat. It was installed ahead of the keel in the port hull. By having a transducer in each hull you can get an indication of a channel location and keep to the middle. Raymarine uses Airmar transducers. Mine came with a short foil adapter but the new o...

I have a 32 not a 36 but the manual supplied by PDQ has specific instructions on blocking during storage. Essentually they want you to put a beam under the fore and aft bukheads as well as suporting the keels. I've been storing mine by using 3 jack stands at each location instead of 2 stands and a b...

Have the bolts holding the foil in position backed out allowing the foil to drop? These are also removed to grease the unit and the manual does not tell you to make sure the bolts enter the holes in the foil.

I've left my house batteries under shrink wrap for 4 winters with no problem. My solar vents also continue to work. I do make sure the yard places the boat so the stern faces south. I check the water level periodically. The boat is stored in Ipswich MA

My boat hull 48 was purchased with two tanks. I thought it would be placed next to the other tank located under the forward seat as on hull 42. However the factory had relocated the refrigeration compressor to that location so they put it under the starboard bunk. This makes for an easy installation...

I am the owner of hull 32048. After viewing your picture I checked my boat. It has a straight connection,no bend, and passes through the cross beam and is also welded underneath. Are there signs of distress on the underside of your beam ?

I don't know if mine is legal (I've never had a Coast Guard inspection) but I attached vinyl letters directly to the hull under the galley floor boards. I then covered with several coats of epoxy. I would recommend doing this with the boat out of water. When I did it in the water in the spring the w...

electric shock

It sounds like the alternater wire is shorting out to the engine. If it was battery voltage it would not increase with speed.

The May 15th issue of Practical Sailor rates the Tempo oil boy and West Marine oil vac as the best manual oil changers, however the Jun 15th issue notes that the pump seal on the Tempo wears quickly and is not replaceable.

Water leaks

I'm getting rain water running behind the inner liner and exiting under the cup rack in the galley. Has anyone found it necessary to rebed either a window or deck hardware to stop leaks like this?

Greasing tilt tube

Is a special adapter needed to apply grease to the fittings on the tilt tube? My grease gun will not fit inside the recess around the zerk fitting.
