Re: E120 Backlight - Time to Upgrade
Electronics reach an age where they aren't worth repairing, especially in today's market where the improvements are a quantum leap above 5-10 year old products. ETC has done board level work for us, and they do a fine job. That said, a new E125 is around $2500 (I'm sure some searching can find a muc...

Re: Yamaha T9.9 Cooling System
Vinegar is not Phosphoric Acid , It is Acetic acid . I would suggest the following, which I now use to clean my heat exchangers. Rig a small bilge pump with a hose to the flush fitting, suspending the engine over a bucket with the bilge pump in it, such that the engine can drain back into the bucket...

Re: Yanmar 75hp and 100hp exhaust elbow
The failure isn't limited to the large Yanmars. I replace several on our Yanmar 18 hp engine on our 36 sailboat. The iron used just doesn't hold up well in salt water. I don't know about their life in freshwater, but I suspect it's no better. I wish that I had available a stainless alternative at th...

Re: Capsized PDQ SV 32 in 2000
"Brother" was on a three boat cruise to the Bahamas in 2005. He lost his engine overboard from a bad mount installation in the middle of the Gulfstream and was forced to sail back to Ft. Lauderdale and abandon the trip. He was not sailing a PDQ, the other two were. We were among those who ...

Re: ACCESS to Pressure Water Pump
You are suffering from a poor installation of the watermaker, which did not include the pump location in planning. Your easiest route is to remove the part of the watermaker which blocks access and relocate the pump to a location where it can be serviced properly. Then re-install the watermaker. Dis...

Re: Slidemoor system for MV 34?
You don't need area for shock absorption. The boat is drawn tight against a rubber fender, with two set of cleats, one on either side of the fender. The load is distributed over the beam by a large sliding member, and which has been engineered to take the high loads imposed. You have to remeber that...

Re: Slidemoor system for MV 34?
Duane, We have Slidemoors on our current boat. There is one consideration for any boat: The piling and Slidemoor should be directly opposite the cleat on the boat for the best performance. Nothing other than that.
