Re: Heat Craft Cabin Heater Circulation Pump
Our water cooling pump for the aft cabin cooler/heater is centrifugal and on the port side.

Re: Yanmar 75hp to 100 hp upgrade
Dennis, I am far from an expert on these matters, but placing an outboard where the existing diesel sits seems problematic. For one thing, how would you get it in there? Part of the "charm" of an outboard is the ability to pull it off the boat with a lift/crane and replace/repair it quickl...

Re: Yanmar 75hp to 100 hp upgrade
Here are the specs for the 2 Yanmar choices at 110HP. There was no 100 listed anymore. Double-click the image to make it easy to read.

Re: Hydraulic Ruder Aligbment
I must say I find it amazing that several of you can go so long without checking (or apparently needing to check and fix) rudder alignment. Talking with other owners, I thought our experience was more typical. Glad for you, of course.

Re: Hydraulic Ruder Aligbment
I would say 150 nm or so is when we realign the rudders. My admiral turns the wheel at the lower helm while I actuate the valve. She reports the approximate arc distance that the wheel moves in each direction. 2-3 inches is not too bad. Anything over 5-6 and I wonder. It seems like the more the auto...

Re: Exterior Sun Shade Salon Door
Bob, I just checked our door. The inside has 1/2 inch wide strips that (presumably) lock the glass panes in place. Assuming the glass does not extend beyond that opening, the farthest the glass would extend is 3/4 inch as measured from the outside. This is because the outside flange is not even with...

Re: Yanmar 75hp to 100 hp upgrade
Gregg Burdick, former owner of Stuart Yachts in Stuart, FL, was heavily involved in repairing and modifying our PDQs for a number of years. I recall he often fantasized about removing the diesels, transmissions, shafts, props, and rudders, and adding appropriate structure to mount outboards - maybe ...

Re: Anchor Bridle
Mac, I could do some quick trig calculations to show the inward pull for any given tension on the main rode, but since I don't know the shear load that our bow cleats would withstand, that would not help. My intuition is that this would not ever be a problem in any scenario likely to happen. If you ...

outboard engine - testing on land with water muffs
[I was going to post this in the Outboard Engine section, but it is so full of posts and I could not use search terms like 'water' and 'pump' as the software deems them too common.] I learned something new about outboard engines over the past few weeks. My Suzuki 9.9 needed some TLC, so I mounted it...

Probably a good idea you posted it here. I did not even remember there was a Classified Section. Good luck with your search.

Re: Upgrading from Raymarine ESeries to Raymarine Axiom
I removed the pair of E120s last year and added the Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 inch. I really like them, and the speed with which the display updates on zoom and pan is amazing compared to the old E120. They sell an adapter plate that uses the E120 mounting holes and lets the slightly smaller footprint ...

Re: Aft Bimini
Dennis,
There have been many times when I moved from the seat to a shady spot on the flybridge, using the remote autopilot control to steer. Obviously, you cannot read the chartplotter or the depth sounder very well, so you need to be in familiar waters.

Re: Aft Bimini
Dennis, If you do a search in the Powercat Forum for Bimini, you will get over 70 hits. Many of them will refer to the Bahamian island, but some will talk about the upper and aft Biminis. Ours came with the boat and we appreciate its shade. The photo is of the old one showing my failed attempt to at...

Re: Engine Panels
On our 75s, I length of cordage temporarily attached to the starter near its center of gravity helped hold it up while the first bolt was inserted. I chuckle when I think of the mechanic's classes that have a clean engine on a dolly or bench with access to all sides. Sure doesn't look that way nestl...
