Alarm System
I installed an alarm system on my PDQ 34 because my previous boat, a sailboat, was broken into. The thieves did more damaged breaking into the boat then what they took. The sailboat had no alarm. The alarm I installed on the PDQ was a SimpliSafe alarm. I bought this one because it has water, smoke f...

Engine Coolant Pump
I noticed a slow leak from my coolant pump on my starboard engine. I probably loose a cup of coolant about every 15 hours of running. Can't tell if it is from the rear gasket or front bearing seal. Has anyone replaced one on the 100 Hp engine. If so was it difficult? I see there are a lot of compani...

Oil Filter for the 100 hp engines
I decided to change oil and oil filters and did not want to wait to get Yanmar oil filters. I saw a review of oil filter on YouTube and saw that NAPA filters are well constructed, Fran not so much. The cross reference for my Yanmar filter is NAPA #1334. Has anyone had any experience using a cross re...

Re: Oil type for the 100 hp engines
I emailed Yanmar about oil consumption and was told 3 quarts/100 gallon of fuel is the acceptable limit. Several mechanics told me that the valve guides were probably the source of the oil consumption. I have the 100 hp engines with about 2000 hours on them. My starboard engine uses about a cup over...

Rear side slide windows' pull/latch replacement
Has anyone had experience replacing the black rear side slide windows pull/latch? The previous owner purchased two slide window combination latch and widow pulls, but it looks like the install requires removing the window. Has anyone replaced the latches before or removed the glass? If so, I would l...

Re: Oil type for the 100 hp engines
Got a reply from Yanmar. Just said that I can use SAE15/40, API CD or newer (CG/CH or even newer). I indicated the boat is being used in FL, AL, MS and LA.

Re: Oil type for the 100 hp engines
Got back to the boat this past week and pulled out the service manual. The service manual indicates SAE 15W40 without differentiating engine type. However, attached to the back of the service manual and not part of the manual there is a list of multiple Yanmar marine engine types including the 4Js, ...

Re: Oil type for the 100 hp engines
I looked online at the Service manuals and could not find the reference to the SAE 30 for the 100 hp engines. While I was on the boat, which is now in Florida, I am presently in New Orleans, I saw the Yanmar service manual the previous owner left on the boat which had the SAE 30 engine oil requireme...

Oil type for the 100 hp engines
Just purchased a 2006 PDQ with the 100 hp engines. The previous owner has been using SAE 15-40 diesel oil in the engines. However I looked at the service manual form Yanmar and it list a straight SAE 30 weight oil for the 100 hp engines and for all of there other models a SAE15-40 weight oil. I woul...

A/C Units humidity control
I just purchased a 2006 PDQ and moved it from Cape Cod to Jacksonville FL. Eventually it will go to the Gulf Coast its new Port. One issued I noticed is the A/C was programmed for a continuous running fan when set on cool. I also noticed that the humidity in the cabin would stay near 80% to 70%. As ...
