Joe,
I have two pdq 36's ( I know....)
This looks like the mast on the "Tall Rig" option model. They couldn't ship the full mast due to length and it would be spliced on site (I think James Power told me this).
Are you sure this isn't the tall rig?

Job Report: Rebedding wraparound windows
OK, so I thought ahead enough to document my adventures this past weekend. The wraparound acrylic windows were developing a couple slow leaks. Instead of (once again) siliconing the edges, I decided to rebed them. It's a messy and nasty job, but not complex. The starboard 3 windows took 2 people 4 h...

Re: Newbie - What to Watch Out for
Not exactly sure what you mean about the cabin hatch. Can you describe further? If you really find a boat you like, I would strongly recommend James Power or Dan Rankin to check it out. Both are well worth the travel expenses to have them look at a boat. Both put in many years at the PDQ factory and...

Yamaha 9.9's for sale
All, I decided to repower with higher horsepower Tohatsu's. My experiment was semi-successful and when I'm less embarrassed I'll write a post on the subject. Meanwhile, I'm selling the 9.9's. They run great. Probably 300-400 hours. I got them from Chris with Cat Tales when I bought her in 2009. He h...

Re: Honda 15
Hi Terry, The Torqeedo 4.0 R would likely work. It's rated at about 9 hp, and the shaft is about 20". It's a bit expensive, at about 3K. But it would be nice and quiet. Regarding shaft length: I know that the Yamaha 9.9 everyone uses is the 25" shaft. But looking at mine, I think a 20"...

Re: Honda 15
Correction: I meant that the distance from the transom clamp to the cavitation plate on the Yamaha is about 23". This is listed as 20.9 on the Tohatsu.

Re: Honda 15
Hey Sam, I just measured my 9.9. The distance from the "deck" (roughly at the bottom of the cowl cover) to the cavitation plate above the propeller is about 23". This leaves the prop several inches under water. On the Tohatsu, this distance is listed at 20.9 for the long shaft. So it ...

Re: Honda 15
OK, I've been thinking about this issue. Call me crazy, but I was looking at the relatively new 2-stroke technology that Tohatsu has. It uses fuel injection, so the emissions are good, it's fuel efficient, and you don't have to mix gas and oil, since it has an oil container, and does the mixing on t...

Re: up the mast
Thanks Dick,
That's exactly what I use as well. I get about 1.5 times up the mast per charged battery. I may buy a second battery soon.

Re: Leek in bow along the trampolene
Thanks Chet, That makes more sense to me now. Anne Z is a 1996 model LRC, and has the center deck hatch. It also does not have inspection ports in the anchor lockers. So I guess that it probably has two small "dead spaces" on each side of the center locker. Probably worth putting inspectio...

Re: Leek in bow along the trampolene
Can you guys describe exactly which "dead spaces" you're referring to? I'm not sure I understand, and I'd like to take a look when I get a chance.
Thanks,
Brendan

Re: Mounting and venting of the Excel water heater on the 32
Hi Jim,
My sweet spot on the Excel is actually quite low. Both knobs are near the minimum setting. And like I said, I never add cold water to the hot at the faucet.
Hope this helps.

Re: Mounting and venting of the Excel water heater on the 32
I haven't taken one apart, but thought I'd give a couple tips on operation. The Excel heater is great, BUT it has a couple things you really need to know. I kept having trouble with it shutting off in the middle of a shower, which, as you can imagine, is sort of a drag... There are two things which ...
