Replacement sheaves for Offshore Spars std rig

Post by Bacchagato »

Looking over the 9 year-old masthead, mast base and boom sheaves on the boat shows they are shot from UV/wear. Most of them are not even round, they are some kind of random ellipse. The originals were 3" OD, 0.5" wide with a 0.5" bore, but most of Bacchagato's are worn down to 2.5-2.75" OD. Replacement white Delrin sheaves can be had from http://www.offshorespars.com/ for a very reasonable price, and their customer service is fantastic. If anyone wants to go with a more robust ball-bearing aluminum sheave with SS center, Guido at Garhauer Marine can make a modified version of their 36-MH at the same price as the standard sheave, see http://garhauermarine.com/catalog_process.cfm?cid=48 for what they look like. Guido's # is (909)985-9993.

Great post with excellent info. I've been wanting to replace a few of my sheaves as well so thanks for sharing your findings!
