Wall oven in life jacket locker
Last Spring I installed a wall convection oven the life jacket locker. After home made biscuits, cookies, and lots of baked goods, it passed the test of time. So I thought I'd post the information.
The locker front can be cut to a maximum of 19.25" x 19.25". Which we needed to do for the oven we found.
The oven we used was a1/4 size cCadco Catering Convection Oven. They are 110VAC and measure 18 7/8 w x 17 3/4 d x 14 7/8 h (including feet).

Here is the diagram of the sleeve we made.
Email me if you have questions.

Looks awesome, great idea. Do you have outboards? Any concern about the proximity to the gas tank or hoses?

Re: Wall oven in life jacket locker
I do have outboards. The back of the oven has a 1/2" pipe vent to exhaust heat from within the oven shell. I put a 1/2" elbow on it to redirect it from pointing straight back. The oven gets hot, but not to a level that might even harm the fiberglass, let alone heat through to the Raycore filter on the other side of the bulkhead. As for power, my Honda 2000i works fine as long as nothing else is attached to AC power.

That's not the life jacket locker; that's the cat box locker!
(I guess we shouldn't bring our cats to visit!)

Re: Wall oven in life jacket locker
I wonder if PDQ ever imagined the multiple uses of that locker...

No, thats the AWCU - Auxiliary Weasel Containment Unit. I'm pretty sure that the only difference between weasels and children is that you can lock weasels away when they are bad.

You mean I'm not supposed to lock the kids away?
Weasles vanish in MT room.
We had some small ones a few years ago - first time. I let them out to play in a small, MT room I was sure they could not escape. They vanished. Not under the door, not into a cabinet.
I had left one thing in the room; the vacuum cleaner. I heard some muffled sneezes. They had crawled up the hose.
We are on another pair now, the elders having lived long. However, they have never been on the boat. I guess I am afraid of where they might go! I know them to be plenty stupid enough to just fall off the deck... though they have gotten in a fish pond we have and they swim like torpedoes!

Re: Wall oven in life jacket locker
Oven looks great! But our locker gets too wet to store anything in, life jackets, cat litter, weasels or anything else. The only thing it's good for is plastic containers.

I sealed the one hole where the cables to the engine enter. Other than that, its been very dry and has worked great. IF you have a seat bolted to the top or other thru-bolts, that may contribute to the water entering. Hope this info helps.
