I vaguely recall someone telling me about a fiberglass step molded to fit the cabinside slope next to the aft facing windows in the head and aft stateroom that would make it a little easier to step forward from the cockpit.
I also vaguely recall breakfast. Aging is not for sissies, or card counters.

Step
Hi, The step was standard on all later models. PDQ offered a screw on version at $200 for a while. I am going to make my own this year. It looks easy, I'll let you know.

My thoughts too. I wonder if there might be a problem trapping lines there. I haven't sailed the boat enough to know if, say, leaving the hatches open causes a problem.

STEP
The step is only 6"-8" wide, and is positioned on the slant, outboard of the hatches. I don't think anything can snag on them.

step to cabin top
My first mold is almost ready. the step will be most of a 5" circle of starboard, on a fiberglass cone cut to fit a 37 degree slope. I'm doing it this way to make it easy to attach.
