"emergency exit" hatches in berths

Post by h.Mika »

I have Bomar hatches (designated by by PDQ as "emergency exit") in my berths -- they show a Bomar number 200221058 (approximately 23"x18" at deck flange). On each, the glass has come away from the lid. Has this been a fairly common experience amongst owners? I am assuming that this a straightforward repair with glazing sealant, but does anyone know if a rubber gasket is available that would secure the glass to the lid? These will never be used as "emergency exits," I can assure you.

Thank you very much for your advice!

Try giving these folks a call. I have used them professionally to repair a number of hatches and portlights and I believe Lewmar uses them for their customer repairs. Good people and I'm sure would be willing to provide advice only if you want to do the repair or make the repair if you send them the hatch lid. Good people.
