Hi Folks,
This summer I decided to add a couple of solar panels so that when at anchor we could minimize running the generator. The results have been outstanding and I thought I should share the details.
I installed two Kyrocera 135W panels over the aft deck bimini with a Prostar 30A controller. At 8:30 am they are generating about 6A and the highest reading I have seen is about 15A. So far in the last three weeks of sitting on a mooring on Block Island we have run the generator only once for about an hour. (watched the olympics for 6 hours on a rainy day) We do not shower on the boat (have shoreside facilities) so no hot water or AC has been needed. I have a couple of photos that I will post as soon as I figure out how to make them small size (limit 256K).
