sliding screen weatherstrip

Post by duetto »

hi all,

i need to replace the "fuzzy" weatherstrip on the inside of the main cabin sliding screens. i have what appears to be the correct weatherstrip material. i have been able to get it installed in the straight runs but it will not make the bend to do the aft vertical edge.

has anyone replaced theirs? any tips?

John,Don't know for sure, but what about a heat gun??? I haven't had a problem yet, but I think heat will soften the backing. Roger C.

roger,

good idea! when they bend the frame it narrows the groove a lot. i bought a dremel tool bit that i'm going to use to open the groove back to the original size, then i'll see if it will start to make the bend. then i'll use a little heat and some silicon spray.

on another note, looks like you'll have plenty of water in okeechobee.
