Post by teamwork »

You guys and gals that have the Northern Lights generator, check the exhaust elbow NOW, its welded cast and when it fails you will ruin the generator. I sucked salt water into engine, caught it in time to be able to repair. these things happen at 3:00 AM in Fl.!!!!! New Gen, alm0st $9000.00.

Is it the elbow that exits the expansion tank (see attached schematic part #10)?
What are we looking for (loss of section, blockage)?
Thanks.

Just had mine checked and replaced on Mr. Busy. The elbow was close to failure. Replaced with the stainless option. While we were at it I had the exhaust elbows checked on both mains. One had a very small pinhole and the other was worn significantly. Replacement cost for the Yanmar elbows was 269.00 ea. and the Northern Lights elbow was $284.00.

Thanks to Teamwork for the heads up on checking these,

Jimmy
