A little problem with deck hatch

Post by jgonnerman »

I have an early build boat that has exposed hinges ( ie the hinge pins face up ) on the battery box lid.

The hinge closest to the door is in the way of traffic and is painful as heck to step on. How has this problem been solved?

I considered trying to reverse the hinge but that does not seem possible without some glass work. I would like to do something more elegant than duct tape.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you

A heavy duty welcome mat is working for me. Roger

Thank you Roger, that's what I went ahead and did. I looked at photos on yacht world and it appears that build years after the 2002 boats had hatch hinged on the other side and uses different hinges.

Couldn't find a hinge on line that I was confident would solve the problem so a entry mat seems the way to go.
