Rear side slide windows' pull/latch replacement

Post by dstrecker1 »

Has anyone had experience replacing the black rear side slide windows pull/latch? The previous owner purchased two slide window combination latch and widow pulls, but it looks like the install requires removing the window. Has anyone replaced the latches before or removed the glass? If so, I would like to know if there is a trick to removing the glass or otherwise replacing the latch.

Here ya go...

Replacing Salon Sliding Window Latch Procedure
1. Remove 4’ black plastic groove track at top (center) of both window frames… gently.
2. Remove exterior window first - Push up and pull out at bottom… gently.
3. Remove interior window - Push up and pull out at bottom… gently.
4. Remove broken latch.
5. Drill hole in new latch for PIN (⅛”?) — carefully!
6. Slide new latch into slot; position over PIN hole.
7. Install PIN - use hammer (lightly).
8. CLEAN window grooves… if needed, gently pull out entire plastic groove track and clean. Reinstall when clean.
9. Reinstall interior window first - Slide up into frame groove and push in at bottom… gently.
10. Reinstall 4’ black strip of “liner” at top of interior window frame…
11. Reinstall exterior window - Slide up into frame groove and push in at bottom… gently.
12. Reinstall 4’ black strip of “liner” at top of exterior window frame.
