75 HP Fuel burn

Post by Ross Bowling »

I apologize in advance, I’m sure the answer is in the archives, but I was unable to put my finger on it. I have a friend looking at a 34 with 75’s and wants to know the GPH Burn rate at 14 knots.

I of course know it for the 110’s, but ......

Thanks in advance. BTW, I sure miss Vita Bella.

13 years ago we had our props re-pitched to allow us to run at full rpm 3800 rpm with full fuel and full water plus 10'6" rib/15 hp, yada yada...since then we run at 3400 rpm to get 14 knots and average 2.6 statute mpg. note this includes pulling up anchor, slow zones, etc.

If you do the math, that equates to approximately 6.5 gph. For comparison, because we are happy doing 7.5 kts almost all the time, we burn 2.2 gph, which is about 3.9 statute miles per gal.

We are the same as John, cruise at 3400 and average about 2.6 miles to the gallon at 13.5-14 knots.
