(1) Is the propeller shaft 1-1/4"?

it's been a longtime, so i don't remember the shaft diameter. do a search it's well documented on forum.
we've had pss for about 10 or 12 years, around 2000 miles. they work well. the most important thing though is: 1) shaft alignment 2) straight shaft 3) good cutlass bearing. any wobble will kill the seal sooner or later. we had tides but they don't tolerate any mis-alignment. pss is more tolerant but if you want a dry bilge see 1-3 above.

Last March, I installed new Tides seals, along with shaft service and engine alignment. The port seal worked ok - just a little water in the bilge at the end of the day. The starboard seal had more leakage.
I just got new shafts and PSS Pro's. The PSS Pro's are overkill and were difficult to install. I had to use 3 clamps to get the bellows compressed to specs. If there is a "next time", I would probably go with standard PSS.
I should be underway next week from St Pete to Stuart, and I'll post again with how they did.

We have had PSS seals for about 5 years. We got tired of replacing the tides seals due to leakage. We had the shafts pulled last spring to have them checked and put new PSS seals on while everything was apart. They were not leaking.

The new PPS Pro's have worked great so far - no drips. The weather from St Pete to Stuart was very calm, so I haven't hit rough water with them yet.
The instructions said to expect a short break in period with some misting and graphite dust, but I did not get any of that. They worked great from the start !

I gave the PSS Pro's a good beating during a rough crossing from Key Biscayne to Bimini. They performed great !
