Hi everyone, I've been thinking of purchasing a para-anchor. I have an chance to
buy an 18'diam. one at a good price. Does anyone have any experience with sea
anchors on our boats

Thanks ,Marc Here's 2 Life PDQ36

If you have access to Practical Sailor, check out the Aug. 2000 issue (Vol 26,
No. 13). "Distant Music" carries a Para-Tech, but we've never had to use it

With luck, it will be like the insurance policy you never get to cash in.

Marc: There are two commercailly available sea-anchors, Paratech and Shewmon

The former is made from a flat piece of material whereas the latter is cut to
form a hemisphere. Data given in a book written by Shewmon suggests that the
latter is a significantly more efficient design and is the one I would probably
select
