All,
My PDQ 36 has the original Norcold reefer unit from the factory. My question
concerns the adjustment knob, or lack there of. I cannot find a thermostat
control anywhere. Is this normal ? I am concerned because our tests show that
this unit draws 90 amp hours in 24 hours of continuous operation. On my previous
boat (Morgan 41) my Adler Barbour would consume only half this much on the
coldest setting. The compressors look identical, so I am wondering what the
difference might be. As always, any insights are welcome

Thanks in advance,
Tom

I don't know what boat you have Tom, but I played the refrig game for a few
years after we bought our boat, 36043. Changed compressors, changed holding
plates, all boiled down to insulation. After stuffing every last bit of
insulation into every space I could find, finall got amp consumption down to
about 30-35 in 24 hours. I have an Iso Therm unit and have been very happy with
it. Good luck. Len
