Generator for Air Conditioning

Posted by Grog on February 20, 2002 at 11:12:00:

We were recently almost devoured by Florida "No See Ems" one night and are now
more interested in being able to close ship at night!
I have followed the useful exchange about Honda generators. Has anyone powered
Air Conditioning/Heating using a portable Honda generator? "Morning Song" is
equipped with a Heart Interface Freedom 20. What is the least generator capacity
which I could expect to function adequately?
Thanks

I have a new Honda eu2000 and it won't even come close to powering my Air
conditioning. It shuts down the whole ac (not air conditioning) when I try to
turn it on. I tried it with everything else turned off.

You might want to try a spray product called Screen Gaurd (I think) We picked it
up for $4.00 in Vero Beach at the true value hardware. You put a paper or
something on the inside of your screen and spray the screen from the outside. It
puts a film on the screen that kills the no see ems as they try to crawl
through. It does not take a lot so don't over use it and don't let it run off
onto anything inside the boat. We did the hatch screens by laying them down on a
newspaper

Good luck
