Paint around Bomar Windows on PDQ36 s/v

Post by windhound »

Does anyone know what type of paint was used at the factory when PDQ painted the area around the Bomar windows on the port and starboard sides of the PDQ 36's built in 1996? If so, was it a Latex or Epoxy paint?

I am getting ready to paint the sides of Wind Hound II (36053) with Pettit Easypoxy paint, knowing I will need to sand off all of the paint if latex was used. After 20 years, it is still in good condition with the exception of a couple of minor places. I have tried sanding and whatever was used, it was/is a very tenacious paint.

I believe that the factory painted topsides with Imron.

I've got a similar issue with some corrosion on the door and window frames on our PDQ 34. I'd like to know what paint anyone has found and used that comes close to matching the original bright gloss white color. We're wondering if anyone has tried Pettit's Polyurethane Easypoxy Gloss White #3175?
