cruise speed

Post by island time »

I would like to here from other owners with the 75 hp yanmars as to what is your cruise speed, not top speed, at what rpm do you achieve this and the size of your props. Diameter , pitch and 3 or 4 blade. i would also be interested in hearing the same information from owners with the 100 and 110 hp yanmars, thank you, any info would be appreciated. I currently have the 75 hp Yanmars but am thinking about repowering

hi,

search the sight. i think this has been discussed elsewhere. with that said, we have 75 hp 3 blade 15 x 13. loaded for cruising (3/4 fuel, full water, 10'6" dinghy w/15 hp) we cruise at 13.5-14 knots @ 3400 rpm all day long with water temp at 185.

we also met someone who repowered from 75 hp - 110. i might be able to find his email.

We have 75's with 16 x 13 props. At 3200 RPM we cruise 13-13.5 knots. One issue for us is max RPM is 3500-3600 RPM's.

I have the 100 hp Yanmars with three bladed props, I don't know the size but probably whatever came with the boat, and at 3000 RPM my cruise is 15 knots (17-18 mph)

We have the 110 hp Yanmars with four-bladed props. Sorry, off hand I don't recall the size. The manual indicates maximum horsepower at 3200 rpm minimum, and we have seen 100 to 200 rpm higher under ideal conditions. Given this rating we typically run the engines at 2600-2650 at cruise, which usually produces a 13.5 to 14.5 knot cruising speed.

We have Hull 114,( 110 turbo's w/ 4 blade 17" props) and routinely cruise at 14-16 knots. Here on San Francisco Bay, we fight/enjoy some serious tides, so we plan out trips accordingly, While in transit from Whitby, we had more OTG speed, however weight is the enemy. I once saw 21.5 knots, but not for long.
