Refridgerator removal?

Post by duetto »

hi all,

we have a 2003 (old style u-shape settee). our novacool double door refridgerator died, the question is: has anyone done this and more importantly do i have to cut the back of the settee to get old unit out and exact replacement back in?

thanks in advance,

We have a 2006 PDQ Powercat and just had our NovaKool Freezer/Fridge unit serviced. Pulling it out was easy. We just removed the 4 corner screws holding it in place. The screws were covered by small cosmetic plugs - just pry them off and use a Phillips screwdriver. Our unit slid straight out easily -- just had to do it carefully. I cannot comment on what a replacement unit would involve.

thanks mac,

i think that the issue to remove is the settee configuration on the early boats. i have the fridge physically out of the wall. i'm not sure it can get past the corner of the sette.

the job is done.

i want to especially thank james power for swinging by and offering suggestions.

so here is the story. james suggested that rotating the fridge cavity over the settee corner might be enough to get it out of the galley. unfortuately it came up 1-2" too tight so the corner of the settee was cut off. this allowed easy access to get the old one out and new one in. also the sliding door and phantom screen needed to be removed.

hinckley did the work and the whole job turned out very well.

this procedure only applies to the older boats with u-shaped dinette and a double door fridge.
