Rigging - forestay

Post by carib sailor »

Hi All

I wondered about some day replacing the rigging that runs from the bows on my 36 to the forestay (rollerfurler).

It is currently rod rigging. Any thoughts in respect to replacing the rod rigging between the bows with wire instead of rod rigging?

Anybody else done this? i am not entirely sure why PDQ used Rod rigging to hold the forestay, perhaps to limit stretch?

Thanks

I replaced the bridle on Allezcat with 3/8" #316Stainless 1X19 wire and used Hi-Mod mechanical Eyes on each end. It works fine (2yrs old now) and replaces similar wire with swaged eyes from factory which was 15 years old.

Pete at Florida Rigging & Hydraulics may be able to help. He has helped me in the past & is the Selden "expert". He also knows of the PDQ's.

Cat Tales' bridle is also wire, I believe 1/2 inch (we have the taller rig).
