A routine check that should be done after getting under way is a walk around the boat. Some of the things to eyeball are, fenders and lines stored, hatches dogged down, anchor secured, ports closed, ect..... I was taught this 30 years ago and its saved my bacon numerous times. Another thing to check is water flow at the exhaust and the vented loop " piddler ". If noticed, it would have saved a lot of trouble. Sorry for being of no real help in the past. james

i noticed that on later boats(circa 06 or 07) that pdq moved the discharge to the outside of the hull. at least that way you can check it along with raw water exhaust. next summer i'm going to investigate moving it.
