Thru-hull handles

Post by Mongoosemagic »

I need to replace the handles on the thru-hulls. It is marked MS58 and underneath that it is either 314 or 3/4.

Does anyone know who the manufacturer is so that I can order new handles.

Hey Mongoosemagic,

The thru hull was probably made by R C marine of Forespar. Forespar took over R C marine in the mid 1980's and should have parts for both. They have a decent web page so you should be able to find what you are looking for. It also lists how to lubricate the seacocks, something that is usually forgotten about.

Hope this helps

James, thanks for the reply. I contacted Forespar and they only have Marelon valves. Nothing in bronze. I have tried handles from Apollo and the do not fit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If they are bronze they were probably installed after the build, as I don't remember any bronze seacocks installed at the factory. Might try a look at Buck Algonquin, Groco or Perko.

Good luck
