Saw the Kiwi prop at the boat show and it really looks like a good option for a feathering prop - we currently have an Auto-Prop which works well and seems to provide plenty of power. I rebuilt it this year and I'm hoping to get another two seasons out of it. The replacement cost is approx $5,000 and a Kiwi prop is $1,200 - replaceable composite blades for the Kiwi prop are $100 ea and change in 5 minutes. So for $300 you can carry a complete replacement prop - it's all stainless and composite construction with blades that lock the pitch in reverse. Looks like a good option - I'd like to know if anyone has any first hand knowledge of the product.
Note: The clearance between the shaft and rudder is pretty tight so I don't think we can use a clamshell type feathering prop.
Thanks,
Mike
