Cruisair Carry-on - Secured and left in-place under way?

No, I would not run it under way:
* not enough power
* not level enough
* not hot enough underway... generally

And I am not talking about off-shore or in tough weather.

But I can claim a bit of a bad back, the side decks are narrow enough, and there is not much room for it below decks. If I can't leave it in place during a cruise I won't be using it at all. It seems with a cover and a few good straps, the motion on the PDQ is not that much and it is not going to see green water or even spray on the cabin top. Other than a wee blind spot - nothing like the blind spots on a Gemini (!) - there should be no harm.

Any experience? I just ran the heat in my house high enough to trigger the thermostat (basement is generally ~ 65F, but the unit needs to be over 70F and closer to 80F for testing) and it seems fine.

Which area would it be trying to cool? Keep in mind that the crusair condensate runs out the bottom of the outside portion, leaving a streak along your deck. The only hatches that come to mind for usinge it would be the large ones over the salon, I have seen quite a bit of white water over that area while transiting the inlets at the wrong time of day.
I used to have a cruiseair on my MacGregor and loved it but I wouldn't leave it in place while sailing. It is a nice inexpensive and low power consumption alternative for at anchor or gentle ICW type cruising though.

Ocean side, no doubt. Been there.

But in the mid-Atlantic it is only the Chesapeake that gets stifling, and the chop isn't generally that big. Up to 25 knots, I think the cabin top is pretty dry.
