winter cover

We finally got our winter cover on. We bought a heavy duty tarp(silver)for the job. We ended up putting two long darts in from the bimini to a point on the toe rail. We cut around the stays and sewed dacron reinforcing in and added a few snaps. The "frame" is plastic banding material which we tensioned to the toe rail. After tying the perimeter down we added a few external bands to keep it from moving too much. Last was to tape in a door salvaged from last winter's cover. In order to get snow to slide of a cover we would have had a small house built on it so we chose to do it as shown. It will keep snow from damaging the salon window joints from freeze thaw cycles and allow us to work in the boat all winter. I just plan on clearing the snow periodically with a snow rake and broom. I had to do that even with the shrink wrap so it really won't be much more work.
