Stern Step Handrail

Surely I'm not the only one with a dented stern step handrail from an accident with the dock.

Now I didn't do it...it came that way from a preious owner.

It still is functional but doesn't look good.

Anyone ever replaced one? I like to do things myself. What is involved?

I can't see how I would get to bolts that I assume are in the water tight rudder compartment.

Do a search on the PDQ 36 section. I had one built by the company that did the original work. I sent them a profile of the transom with stud locations and when I received it the fit was spot on. I ended up installing a 4" deck plate on the second step riser to access the lower bolts. The stbd side will remain slightly bent because my holding tank resides there. I found out that it is a separate tank and not part of the hull the hard way- I drilled the 4" hole and found the tank so there is absolutely no access. My previous PDQ had the holding tank in the fwd locker. No two are the same.
