Inverter Ventilation

The inverter area gets way too hot when running the AC in the summer. While the design calls for ventilation, the install certainly didn't provide any. Has anyone added something?

I've been toying with the idea of adding a vent in the back of the nav cubby, where it would be out of sight. Perhaps its own fan could draw the cooler air if ducted. The other option would be a vent in the top of the seat back somewhere, using the chimney effect to move air.

Thoughts?

(I'm sitting here awaiting minor knee surgery in a few days, so writing, scheming, and planning help keep me sane. Fall sailing was the plan....)

hi,

on our powercat i added a vent to the top of the enclosure which has the inverter. the vent has a small fan to exhaust the hot air. it helps a lot.

Vent between inverter area and under table area? That's how our boat was set up when we got her.

No, actually I meant the map storage slot in the nav area. It is about 24" deep, 36" wide, and 6" high, and the back is very near the inverter. The side next to the the salon table is blocked by a drop leaf I added to make a better salon bunk and wound not be a great choise, though it would be out-of sight for the above reason. Perhaps that is the better choise.

No, there are NO vents in my boat. Unless the AC is on there is enough cooling, but not when there is a lot of load. Interestingly, in the winter I can have the same heating load, but when it's 20F outside, that solves that.
