hi all,

we have a 2003 mv34 with a paneltronics model 3404 distribution panel. i need to replace one of the circuit breakers. i thought it would be straight forward but its not.

has anyone done this? if so, what are the tricks?

thanks in advance.

hi ross,

mind you i haven't done it yet, but between james & paneltronics it became clear what i had to do.

the breaker in question is the inverter breaker. the lever broke off. on our boat the inverter breaker has a single lever with a blanked off lever "hole" below it. when i first tried to remove i just undid the 2 screws into the breaker labelled inverter. turns out its a double-pole breaker (i.e. 2 breakers sandwiched together with a single lever).

so to replace you need to get the correct breaker and then undo both sets on screws holding both breakers to the panel. you also need to disconnect the wiring going to the breakers.

one word of caution. most breakers are connected together with a copper strip or bus. if one of these breakers needs replacing you'll need to disconnect the copper strip from all breakers before you proceed as described above.

one final note. paneltronics has all their panels wiring & parts online @ http://www.paneltronics.com. the panel model is in the lower right corner of the face.
