Wind Instrument

Has anyone put a wind instrument on their PDQ? On cruises with other boats, I find that the wind topic comes up fairly often, particularly in rough weather. I've seen wind sensors on other trawler type boats.
I might have an opportunity to buy a used Garmin gWind™ Wireless 2 wind vane for our boat. It's currently on a sailboat. The owner is unhappy with the the wireless connection (mast head to cabin). I think this instrument requires a bridge device (GND-10) to connect to our NMEA 2000 network to display wind data on our current Garmin GMI-20 panel: <https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/12669 ... 0-01140-00>
Any input would be appreciated.
