Generator Motor Mount Bracket on Oil Pan - Repair

Easy Riders has the NL M673D Genset with the oil pan underneath. The motor mounts connect to brackets that are welded to the side of the oil pan. The weld failed on the port aft bracket - photo below. I'm trying to avoid pulling the genset out.

I'm considering an attempt to weld the bracket in place, but not sure to what extent that the genset would need to be isolated, disconnected, or parts removed.

My other idea is to shim it up with some rubber pads and "do the repair later"...

Any ideas ?

could you lift it with a hoist and drop the pan?

Shim it using stainless or G-10(fiberglass) so that it raises it just below the pan lip. In that position it is positively captivated and will transfer lateral and fore/aft loads into the pan. The 1g vertical loads will keep it where it needs to be and the pan sidewalls will take the relatively low vibe loads when running.

No point in using rubber as the isolator rubber is already in the load path.

As a loads and dynamics engineer who has designed many isolated systems, thats what I would do.

Thanks
Doug

Thanks John and Doug !

I tried a contraption to lift the genset to see if I could get the pan out, but could not quite get there.

Doug - thanks for the G10 ! I had not considered that.

Thanks again Doug ! - the fiberglass shim worked like a charm, and greatly reduced noise and vibration.
