Vented cap on Hydraulic Helm resevoir?

Post by AMCarter3 »

I noticed recently that the SeaStar manual for our helm hydraulic system states that the cap on Flybridge helm should be "vented". The upper cap on our system sure looks the same as the un-vented cap at the lower helm. Does anyone have a vented cap on the upper helm? If so, what does it look like?

The fly bridge steering pump should have a vented cap, lower helm not vented. This allows for expansion of the hydraulic fluid in the system up top while maintaining a seal at the lower station. The cap will have the words "vented" on it.
