We use a cruiseair 16000 BTU unit. We had a 12000 and it was too small. We also
use a 5000 BTU carry-on in the settee area. The boat has a large surface area
and can get quite warm in hot weather, so sunshades are a must. Also the reverse
cycle heat feature was great, while coming down the ICWW.

We installed a 17,000 BTU unit sold under the Westerbeke label. Both heating and AC have been very effective. Size, weight and current draw were suitable for the 36.
